Erect caulescent perennial, 75-150 cm. Leaves 7-35 cm; leaflets 15-40 mm, oblong to narrowly ovate, obtuse, glabrous above, sparsely adpressed simple-pilose below, 11-23-paired; stipules 15-30 mm, lanceolate, sparsely adpressed-pilose. Inflorescence subsessile or with peduncles to c. 5 mm, 4-6 x c. 4 cm globose or ovate, dense, with 20-40 sessile flowers. Bracts 2-7 mm lanceolate to ovate, sparsely adpressed-pilose. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 10-13 mm, tubular, sparsely long-villous; teeth 2-3 mm, linear. Corolla yellow; standard 18-22 mm. Young legume ovate, compressed, pilose, included in calyx. Fl. 5-8. Dry banks, fields, roadsides etc., 900-2800 m.
Syntypes: [Crimea] in littorale Tauricae praesertim in saxosa valle inter Sudac et Kutlac et in [Turkey] promontorio rupestre in Pontum (Tschobankalè) pro-currente.

S. Russia, Crimea. A. idae Grossh. (Dokl. Akad. Nauk Azerb. SSR. 3:544, 1947) non širj., 1939, described from B8 Erzurum (at the base of Palendöken Da., Radde 77) is probably no more than a small form of A. ponticus.
