O. lanceolatum Boiss. & Hausskn. in Boiss., PI. Or. Nov. Dec. 2:1 (1875). Perennial, rootstock with long slender branches. Stems 2-3(-4), 25-50 cm, simple or branched above, setose, long- and shortly pubescent. Basal leaves not seen; cauline 20-70x8-20 mm, sessile or lower very shortly petiolate, broadly lanceolate, acute, both surfaces patent or subadpressed setose, densely short-hairy (hairs sometimes mistaken for asterotrichous indumentum). Inflorescence of 1-2 terminal cymes, elongated after flowering. Bracts to 15 mm, linear-lanceolate. Pedicels very short in flower, elongating to c. 7 mm in fruit. Calyx c. 12 mm in flower, to 15 mm in fruit, with short, tubular base and acute, linear-lanceolate lobes. Corolla yellow, 15-18 mm, cylindrical-campanulate, pubescent. Annulus hairy. Anthers slightly shorter than filaments, with bidentate sterile tip. Nutlets 4 mm, ovoid, acute, brownish, rugulose. Fl. 5-7.
