Rodhos (Kalt-eisen & Willing, op. cit., 1981 :map 46). W. & C. Europe, Mediterranean area, Caucasia, N. Iraq, N., N.W. & W. Iran. Medit. element. Variable, especially in size and shape of labellum and length of sepal hood. Besides plants with lips having reduced lobes (described as var. chersonensis Turrill in Kew Bull. 1924:375, 1924), specimens often occur having a laxer inflorescence, elongated lobes and long-acuminate sepals. These have been described as O. commutata Tod., op. cit.; an example with extremely long attenuate sepals is Renz 10945 from C6 Adana: E. of Osmaniye nr Has-anbeyli, 600-700 m. Most material, however, is intermediate between these two variants. |
