A. saganlugensis Trautv. in Bull. Phys. Math. Acad. Petersb. 16:323 (1852). Ic: Fl. Armenii 4: t. 29 (1962). Caespitose perennial to 15 cm, with a woody caudex. Leaves 2-3 cm; leaflets 3-5 mm, ovate or oblong, acute, white spreading simple-hairy, 5-7-paired; stipules 2-6 mm, triangular, joined to c. 1/2-way. Peduncles 4-6 cm. Inflorescence a globose, 11-18-flowered spike. Bracts 2-4 mm, lanceolate. Calyx 5-8 mm, tubular-campanulate, with long white spreading simple hairs; teeth 2-3 mm. Corolla reddish or lavender; standard 11-13 mm, glabrous. Legume 5-7 x 2-3 mm, oblong, white spreading simple-hairy, acute. Fl. 6-8. Sulphur springs, roadsides etc., c. 1650 m. A. sapozhnikovii Schischkin (in Ber. Tomsker Staats-Univ. 80:477, 1929), described from B8 Muş: Melazgirt, c. 1500 m, vi 1916, Schischkin, is said to differ from A. saganlugensis only in having shorter legumes (c. 5 mm) and obtuse leaflets. In both these characters it overlaps with the latter species and is therefore probably conspecific. |
