A. canescens DC, Astrag. 142, t. 16 (1802). Syn: A. canescens Bunge, tianus Astrag. Geront. 2:174 (1869). Sorger Procumbent or ascending, shortly caulescent, perennial herb, c. 15 cm, with ağri a branched woody caudex; stems c. 5 cm. Leaves 4-6 cm; leaflets 5-8 mm, nar- n-Tur. rowly elliptic, adpressed bifurcate-pilose, 8-10-paired; stipules c. 3 mm, ovate- lanceolate, free. Peduncles c. 9 cm. Inflorescence c. 2 cm diam., a dense, globose c. 15-flowered spike, elongating in fruit. Bracts c. 3 mm, ovate-lanceolate. Calyx 8-10 mm, tubular, adpressed long white and short black bifurcate-hairy; tube apparently not inflating in fruit; teeth 1.5-2 mm. Corolla pale purple; standard c. 20 mm, glabrous. Legume unknown. Fl. 6. Type: [Turkey] 'Armenia', Tournefort; 'A. orientalis canescens capitulis Trifolii bituminosi, flore dilute purpurascente'. N.E. Anatolia. A8 Erzurum: Tortum, vi 1853, Huet! Endemic: Ir.-Tur. element. Closely allied to A. psoraloides and possibly only differing in the calyx tooth length. A. canescens Bunge is clearly the same as A. canescens DC, since both authors cite the.same Tournefort polynomial quoted above. |
