A. atrocarpus Chamb. & Matthews in Notes R.B.G. Edinb. 29:302 (1969). Erect, caulescent perennial, 30-35 cm; stems 20-25 cm. Leaves 4.5-6.0 cm; leaflets 6-8 mm, narrowly elliptic, sparsely adpressed bifurcate-pilose, 7-9-paired; stipules 4-5 mm, ovate, joined below. Peduncles 10-16 cm. Spike 10-15-fruited, dense, ovoid. Bracts c. 3 mm. lanceolate. Calyx c. 7 mm, campanulate in fruit, sparsely black and white bifurcate-strigillose; teeth c. 2 mm, linear. Corolla colour unknown; standard c. 17 mm. Legume 5-6 x 3 mm, ovoid, erecto-patent, densely black- and white-setose, hairs arising from small tubercles; beak c. 2 mm, curved. Fr. 8. Mountain ridge, 2300-2500 m. Type: Turkey A8 Erzurum, in jugo Kop Dagh inter Aşkale et Bayburt, 2300-2500 m, 18 viii 1967, Rechinger 37681 (holo. W!). Endemic; Ir.-Tur. element. Allied to A. bungeanus Boiss., a species from the Caucasus and Iran, which differs in its finely white adpressed-hairy legumes. |
